When In Spain, Do As The Chinese And Eat Spaghetti

“Mom, did you know that spaghetti is my favorite food? Well, it’s true. I think it’s pretty cool that spaghetti is just chinese food that comes from Spain. Ya know, I’ve always wanted to go to Spain…to eat the spaghetti, of course. Plus, I hear they have lots of cool buildings. But, the thing that bugs me about Spain is that they make you get a bunch of shots that really hurt or the Spain people won’t let you come in. Don’t you think that’s a little rude? And, the other thing that really stinks about Spain is that you can’t buy any cool stuff in the gift shops because they don’t take our money. It’s a good thing they take our money in California. Wait a second…California is part of the United States, right?”  Jay-8

This was said while Jay dined on chicken fingers and french fries, not the spaghetti, in an Italian restaurant in Southern California. After I choked on my Chianti, I politely suggested that we work on geography before the start of the new school year.  His response….

“Sure thing, Mom. I’ve always liked science.”

Although he might just be onto something, questioning whether California really is part of the US!

He has a point. You want folks to come visit your country, but first – you require they get shots? The spaghetti better be worth it. That’s all I have to say.

If I’m not mistaken pasta does come from China but Italians are best known for it. Let your kid now that he can come to Europe shot free 🙂

He is right though, they don’t want our US dollars. We have to sell them for Euros. Today (maybe not tomorrow) it cost $1.40 for 1 Euro. 😦

I am CRACKING up. Omg. Get him some geography asap! My sister-in-law didn’t find out that we had a state called Washington until she was 20 years old.

On another note, when I was in Italy I gained 8 pounds. I was only there three days.

    • Ok. So, you just made me feel better knowing that you have a family member that was clueless that Washington is a state. And, you consider this person to be a fully functioning adult…right?

8 pounds in three days is impressive…damn carbs!

Haha, she’s ditzy, but she’s much more responsible and well-functioning than her husband who *did* know that Washington was a state. There’s hope 🙂
