Where’s The Duct Tape?

“Mom, can you help me? I need a permanent marker, duct tape, a flash light, a juice bag, some Goldfish crackers in a bowl and Will’s iPod. Can you put it in a box and bring it outside? I’ll be on the swings.” Jay-8

And no,Β there is not a hostage living in the shed. I already checked.

At first I thought Jay was going to use those all for one thing but I think (hope) he is going to use them all for different things. πŸ™‚

Please heed his demands. I really want to know how it all ends.
Meanwhile, Young American, you need – need – need – to read the children’s books written by Robert Munsch. I’m not referring to Love you Forever. I am talking about his other books.
Jay’s unknown plan reminds me of Robert’s book, “Purple, Green and Yellow.” You can hear Robert read his book here: http://robertmunsch.com/purple-green-and-yellow/#

Normally, I wouldn’t worry too much. But having seen the Canadian show “Red Green”, who manages to put “gullwing” (Vertically opening) doors on a Chrysler K-car with duct tape, I heartily recommend investigation. The need of the permanent marker and the flashlight are particularly intriguing, in combination with the duct tape.
Please let us know the outcome. Who knows, Jay may become famous – there is a group online that collects different uses for duct tape. He may have found a new one, worthy of publishing!

    • “Yup, you could probably use a stitch or two for that wound, but we’ll just use some duct tape instead.” πŸ˜‰ Maybe duct tape could help cut down trips to the emergency room.

Dead serious here – several EMT teams I talked to in the Chicago area carried duct tape for bandaging and splinting purposes. A major wound can be staunched with a torn piece of clothing (shirt or pants leg, T-shirt, etc.) over the wound and the area, regardless of clothing or damage, wrapped in the tape.
Also completely serious. There is a group called the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) – call the medieval re-enactors. When they “battle”, no metal weapons are allowed, so the favourite materials are cardboard or PVC tubes wrapped in (you guessed it) duct tape.
Truth IS stranger than fiction. And it’s usually held together by duct tape. πŸ˜‰

Juice bag???? i know juice boxes…
so the goldfish go in the juice bag that gets duct taped to the swing-set. The flashlight comes out at night making the goldfish think it’s the moon so they can dance to the music on the iPod. Jay comes home wearing the bowl on his head.
for the marker, yer on yer own…

    • It sounds like you’ve been playing in the backyard with Jay. How are your sword wielding skills?

You need the marker to write the sign that says, “Show starts in 5 minutes. $1.00 a ticket.”

And, the juice bag is juice in a bag not a box. Think Capri Sun…silly.
